Logo & Branding
It was 2013 and frozen yoghurt had only recently entered the Australian market as the new and upcoming healthy treat. A few other frozen yoghurt companies did not succeed, but the owner thought it was a good time to come up with a fun yoghurt shop in Brisbane CBD. John came to Eightball with an idea, but no brand name or clear direction. We started brainstorming and decided on the name Nominom, which originates from the term “om nom nom nom” (which is baby talk for delicious). We pitched the idea to John and he loved it. He came up with the the idea of 2 yoghurt head characters. One is called Nomi, a girl yoghurt head, and Nom, her boyfriend.
The logo we designed for Nominom took inspiration from American style sweet treat brands such as Krispy Kreme and Dairy Queen. We opted to have the curves of the encapsulating shape of the logo to present the tip of a frozen dessert and a leaf above the “I” to show natural healthy ingredients.
John asked us to come up with custom illustrations of Brisbane that were to be used as a background throughout Nominom’s promotional material and also as featured wallpaper in the shop fitout. The Brisbane graphic became the main style of Nominom’s illustrations and artwork. It was carried on to create flavour tags and various illustration of Nomi & Nom.
We designed stationery for Nominom as well, including business cards, loyalty cards, uniforms, store fitouts and newsletters. Our assistance with Nominom’s branding included a product photoshoot and selecting supportive fonts to use in their everyday promotional material.
Since working with Nominom, we have heard they have expanded to Ghana! Great partnerships lead to inspirational products and catchy ideas.
