Redback Landscaping Supplies has been one of Brisbane’s favourite landscape suppliers for nearly 25 years. And not just because their iconic giant fibreglass Redback Spider was, for years, among the esteemed company of Australia’s legendary Big Things™ – but also because they’ve simply been one of the best and most dependable suppliers since their founding.
But, as times change, so do the demands of the industry. And in order to keep up with the latest market changes and remain competitive, Redback needed to step up their online presence and streamline their marketing efforts to stay ahead of the competition.
The Aim
Redback wanted to tap into Eightball Media’s digital expertise in order to optimise their online marketing strategies to markedly increase sales and customer engagement. And, in particular, what they wanted was to free up the effort they were spending on their own marketing to be able to concentrate again on the running of their business.
Eightball understands that you need to be given the space to do what you do best… Which is why we were so happy to do what we do best by totally optimising their online presence.
The Process
First, we knew that we had to begin with a comprehensive analysis of Redback’s existing marketing efforts to properly focus on refining their social media strategies and the paid campaigns that would be most effective.
From the initial kickoff of our social media work in August 2022, we analysed everything from current market trends to customer behaviour to be able to identify the most effective products for Redback to promote using our paid aids.
All this initial groundwork helped us to further create tailored marketing campaigns that resonated with their target audience of Brisbane landscapers.
From there, we launched highly targeted campaigns using custom and lookalike audiences, as well as setting up retargeting campaigns to engage previous visitors and customers which maximised conversion opportunities.
We also rolled out customised promotional strategies like flash bulk bag sale along with other special campaigns that boosted sales, attracted new customers, and ensured the highest possible ROAS.

The results speak for themselves: since the start of our digital work with Redback, they’ve seen a return of up to $20 for every dollar spent on their marketing!
This has resulted in their total sales having doubled – and sometimes even tripled – over time, which has led to a massive influx of new business and an absolutely incredible return on their initial investment.
